Should I pull a Linus and paint my Maximus VII Forumla?

So I currently have a black and red setup going on but I want to upgrade my PC and while doing so (I will also be going from air to water) I want to change my color sheme too. 

 

I'm not quite sure wheter I want to go for a  white and black sheme or a very dark purple and black ( I am color blind so what I call purple might not be what you call purple. If you want to look it up i'd say that R:26 G:0 and B :85 is what I'm looking for.) 

 

Now I have two options. One that is like 5 to 10€ and one that is 1000€+ one.

 

1. Upgrade to X99 for the black an white theme or black and purple ( X99 Deluxe or WS, 5820k, 32GB  of DDR 4) 

 

2. Stay on Z97 and paint my Maximus VII Forumla and my Dominator Platinums. 

 

So while I am worried that I will brick my board I think that it's a much more sensible option. 

 

So should I do it? And would you guys want a post about it?

Well I'd just paint the armor in favor of it being white/black/red colour scheme. Personally never painted any PCB/plastics that're physically connected to the PCB.

If it was a engineering sample there aren't much loses because it hasn't got a warranty.

Well you obviously want to, so if you think you have the skills to do it, go for it. It's your gear and your choice after all. Yes, I would be interested in a worklog of some sort with pictures

 

Just crossed my mind, make sure you take some temperature readings before and after, it'd be interesting to see if the paint has any effect.

Too much white. If I go for white and black white should be an accent rather than the base color.

...couldn't you sidegrade to a z97 motherboard with the right colour scheme? Painting ram isn't as bad if you know what you're doing.
