XFX HD 6770

So I posted here earlier about temps and noise. Apparently its how the card is. I looked up toms hardware and anandtechs review and both show idle temps mid to high 50s and load temps near 90. Mine isnt that bad on load temps but its loud as well. Strange a card ia built like that.

Well AMD cards generally have higher power draw (therefore heat) and noise than their NVIDIA counterparts. Probably just them trying to squeeze out that extra bit of performance on that card for that particular generation.

Those should be wrong. Idle should be around 40 and LOW 50C and load should be around 80C. 

 

At least, based on the reviews I read this is how it should be.

Use Msi Afterburner to lower the fan curve.

Temp 1 stays around 50 temp 2 around 55 and temp 3 56. My load temp in crysis 3 topped at 83, 78 with msi afterburner fans set on auto. Reviews say a bit higher. Hwmonitor reports idle temp at 50 but msi afterburner says 55. Then core temp shows 3 temps.

How can the 6770 be so hot, my HD5770 back in the day was on 28°C idle and 62°C load.

It's that specific card runs hot.  I am hoping 55*C on every day tasks doesn't kill it that fast.  It's for a friend of my dads who wants a quick PC for tasking and stuff and we tossed in a GPU in case his grand son games.
