-_-

1600x900

High.

Should have 60fps and that too in ultra.

But I'm geting 40-45 in high settings.

That's normal with the FX-8350...it's the reason i upgraded to an i7...poor performance in many games.

My FPS in watchdogs went from 40-55FPS (FX running at 4.6GHZ) to 65-80FPS...same settings, same GPU, same RAM, same everything except motherboard and CPU.

Same thing with many other games as well...there where a few games in which the FX-8350 was able to maxout my GTX 780 at 1080p and offer good performance (battlefield 4 for example) but in most cases it won't and will dip in the 30 to 40FPS range a lot...just annoying.

...and also the GTX 970 is not a card to play at 1600x900...it's defenetly a 1080p card...even a core i7 would have a hard time maxing that GPU at such low resolution...but the FPS would be MUCH higher across the board that's for sure.

I think you should invest in a good 1080p 27'' display, and push the graphics settings...you will still get 40-45FPS in many games, but at least it will look very pretty!

Shit..didn't know that. ! I had the idea that lower the resolution..higher would be the fps in games !!! :| So if i get a 23inch 1080p will the usage increase in games ??

probably not in games that are already bottlenecked by your CPU.

That is what i want to know !! Is my cpu bottlenecking my gpu or is it some problem with my gpu??

Unless you ONLY play bf4 and multithreaded games, the fx-8350 will bottleneck the 970. A 4460 on Intel's side is the lowest reccomended to pair with a high end graphics card.

yes the GPU usage will be significantly higher if you increase the screen resolution it make the graphics card work harder.

That said, If the FX-8350 does not meet your performance goals, then you have a CPU performance issue. The GPU is irrelevant to this issue. Performance originates with the CPU, not the GPU. Any gaming GPU can play any game at any frame rate that a CPU can generate. The difference between lower end gaming GPUs and higher end gaming GPUs will always manifest as a difference VISUAL QUALITY in actual real-world implementation, not FPS.

fx 8350 is a decent cpu and 970 is a high end gpu. I should be getting more usage !

the FX-8350 despite what you might think of it is fairly old by now and wasn't a very good performer even at launch, the cores on this CPU are very slow and in games it quickly expose that weakness in the design.

intel haswell CPU cores are a good 50% stronger and they perform a lot better in games, including those multi-threaded games. A core i3 flatout beat the FX line up in most games...a core i5-4460 for example pulverise even the FX-9590 in every single games out there.
