How exactly does vessel work? I have heard you pay but I have also heard there is ads. So do you get ads if you pay or only if you don't?

I got the free year, not really liking it so far though. From what i can see, there is no feed or inbox of any kind. Also, this is my first post!

How is this thing not a gimmic?

A) it has a squarespace ad on every video regardless of the video (guessing they are hosting and created this site)

B) the news feed is annoying at best and doesn't have a subscriptions page

C) 90% of the current people on there are not appealing to me

D) the interface and comments section are just not clean...

I got the years subscription but already can see the content they are posting on there and not YouTube...

Kind of pigeon holing us to have to download a new app to watch the same videos... It will take a lot more to bring me over to vessel than just Linus.
