I currently have a vision. I have my minecraft server build vision, which can be seen in that specific thread, and I have another build vision. This vision would consist of a massive computer that could run all adobe creative cloud apps smoothly, and have enough storage for 4k pro res videos. I also want it to be able to handle intense encoding load, and quite a bit of mild load games, and maybe enough power for 3 27" monitors? 1080p or 4k... idrc. I have a budget of $1800, and I would prefer Micro ATX, but if needed I guess ATX would be ok. Any ideas? Recommendations? I really don't know where to start with this. (I've never had $1800 to spend, and on top of that I don't know what parts are crucial for these tasks.)

Is that budget including the monitors? If so it would be a major stretch for what you want

A. I said I don't really care about the monitors

B. Will soon be getting a camera for pro res.

C. Does that really concern you?

D. Okay I'll look into ATX.

Yeah, I'm starting to think I'll just buy the monitors separately.... So I guess just $1800 for the build... I have one 1080p 32", but I want 3 27" so I want to build in a graphics card that will allow me to get my ideal monitor setup in the future.

Your 280x would work fine with that single 1080p monitor now, but I would definetly upgrade to faster or double card setup.

Why do you have a 1000W PSU with two 970s?

If he does the 3 4k panelv he'll need to OC everything to help drive it.

Even oc'd he won't need more than an 850W... hell, a good 750 will give him an extra 75W-100W for overclocking.

He is not driving 3 4K monitors with current gen hardware anyways.  He will be lucky to drive a single 4K display with either of our builds.

Nice, But I'm a huge fan of overlocking, and Xeons don't support overlocking. I also have a super customized distro of Linux, so Windows is pretty pointless, maybe I could take off Windows, and switch the Xeon for an Intel i7-5820k.

Edit: I really love that monitor though....

That is soo perfect, but I'd take off Windows, and add the  Dell P2715Q 60Hz 27.0" Monitor back and just find a way to get a little extra $$ for the little bit over budget.

You know, you really have not said much about what you intend to use this PC for...  You want to render and play MC while running a server on it?  :(:)

Windows is only $100... I would grab a bigger SSD - 480GB is around $160.

@CarsonAurum  If this is not a purely gaming rig, I would go the R9 290 route and have a smaller PSU then grab the 4K display.

I would look more towards my first build if you want the monitor.  Just switch out the Xeon if you want.

If you live near a microcenter @CarsonAurum you might be able to save some money on at least the CPU and motherboard.

Yeah, because you have a Microcenter near you, that $150 over-budget build will magically become underbudget (or close to).  ;)
