Hey everyone!

There is an issue with my parents Office-PC:

Although I've enabled cool'n'quiet  and set the CPU fan control to "quiet" mode with a target temperature of 65 Celsius in the BIOS, the CPU fans still runs at about 1700 RPM constantly. I have no idea what to change in order to achieve a quiet PC...

It seems like the PWM control is not working. I've tested a similar CPU fan and the issue still remains. I don't know since then the issue exists, but at the time then I set up the PC everything worked fine and it was almost inaudible. I've checked the connection and the CPU fan is hooked up to the right header. Also, HWMonitor recognizes the fan and displays the RPMs. The Temperature of the CPU is about 25-30 Celsius under conditions.

The Setup:

ASrock a780 fullhd (AM2+)

AMD Athlon X2 4850e

ac freezer 7 pro

4 GB ram

Windows 7 64 bit

Do you have any suggestion? An Ideas? I'm happy with any advice! :D

Thanks allot!

I would say get a aftermarket cooler. Stock heat sinks are so loud, after switching to CoolerMaster hyper 212 EVO its so quiet! and the temps are going to be lower! its only $35 on newegg.

Take a look at the hyper 212 evo or if you are on a really tight budget have a look at the arctic cooling freezer pro 7 rev 2, i had one for a while before switching to some other heat sink and for the price its very good and quiet.

Hi, is this a 3pin or 4pin fan? If it's a 3pin fan, you can't control the speed through the 4pin connector. If it's a 4pin fan, on intel motherboard, there's a setting in the bios called minimum CPU fan speed, that's where you can lower the cpu fan speed. Can you try to see if there's a similar setting in your bios?
