Is disk uttility in ubuntu safe?

So i realized i can convert my partitions in ubuntu with disc utillity. But problem is, will i use my data?

yess you probably will, not sure though....i dont know of a way to keep data on a partition whilst changing its format. Just back it up in case that way your safe.

Are you sure, if i lose my data there is no goin back, i will also format to NTFS so i can install windows 8

ARE you SURE that IM not GOING to LOSE data!?

If you are going to Install Windows, windows will automatically format the disk prior to the installation, so your data will be lost anyway.
Unless you make a partition for Windows and another for your personnal data. Because then, you can choose to install Windows on the partition you kept free for this purpose.
