I have a few games installed in my laptop where in I plan to transfer to my newly built main rig.

Now my problem is what method should be properly done during this operation.

coz i dont want to log in to my main rig and start downloading 6gb++ size of games all over again.

I want it to be effective and efficient at the same time.

here are my options.

A. Copy steamapps over to my 1tb external WD drive.

B. Do a backup of steam files thru "Steam/backupandrestoregames over to my external drive. .. um wait its redundant right??.

so how do you guys do this? i just need it to be from my laptop and safely to my main rig..haalp!

I've done it ^^^ way a couple of times, If you copy the whole Steam folder from Program Files, right click steam and Run as Admin it'll repair and show all your games as installed.

Downside of this is if the games have some pre-reqs they don't always get re-installed, but if you open the games folder the installers are there and you can run them again manually.
