I've gotten my GTX 970 working in F@H now, however every time it tries to run WU 9201, it get stuck on Update_Core. I've tried removing the WU, removing then adding the GTX 970, and setting the preference from all to cancer (the WU is aimed at Parkinson's and Alzheimer's) and the same thing happens.

What can I do to either block this WU or get my GTX 970 folding?

Same exact thing happened to me a few days ago but I got it up and running again. In my thread about the issue I got some useful advice which ill quote here when I find it. What percentage is your work unit on? I had some issues with 9201 but patience and time helped it just work the issue out. Also, do you have and overclock on your card?

Edit: Here it is:

you will have to let it recalculate again the wu messed up. did you have done some OC on the card? don't delete a wu unless it is you're last option.

suggestion for stuck on 99.99% on a WU

1 Pause everything

2 set the slider on light

3 Wait like 10 minutes

4 Close the F@H client

5 reboot system for any stuck folding prosesses

6 start the F@H client

7 set the slider to full

8 unpause all of the WU

9 wait like 4 hours

If that does not work delete that WU and let it do hiss job

if that does not work either delet F@H and reinstall drivers and reboot.

Just having a closer look, F@H is trying to initiate a workload for Fermi based cards.

That shouldnt be an issue with your 970 because its haswell based, not keplar/fermi. Maybe that specific workload is specifically for keplar/fermi? I doubt it, but It could be the case. Anyhow, give it time and if nothing happens, PM me and ill try to help. Usually time helps with this stuff due to the fact that computing on this level takes an immense amount of effort from your hardware.

The best option to your is remove F@H and data, then reinstall F@H. And also ad a firewall exeption.

Yes, it had no effect. Could using 15.04 Beta be the cause of F@H having problems?

Why don't you try using BOINC? Full control over your WUs and what kind of research you do with it.

Whenever the driver stops working (something that does happen during updates), FAH wipes all WUs clean.

Why? I don't. The client is just dumb.

Something that i have never had happen to me personally, nor

heard about anyone else experiencing. The Wu can however

potentially get stuck. Starting a New Wu after driver install would

make sense.

I would say try to re-install drivers and the Client. But as far as i know,

gpu folding in ubuntu/Linux is still very much in beta, so yeah. You

might run into some funky problems.

This has nothing to do with reinstalling ubuntu!

Did you also install nVidia ubuntu drivers? without that F@H will not work.

First, go to System > Administration > Hardware Drivers

nvidiathumb02.jpeg

You'll then see that Nvidia drivers are not in use. Check (or tick) the box underneath Enabled to enable the drivers.

nvidiathumb03.jpeg

You'll then be asked (after a brief explanation about desktop effects) if you want to enable the driver. Click Enable Driver.

nvidiathumb04.jpeg

Wait for the installer file to download.

nvidiathumb05.jpeg

Wait for the drivers to be installed.

nvidiathumb06.jpeg

Then, click Close once the changes have been applied.

nvidiathumb07.jpeg

You'll then see that the drivers are enabled and will be available for use upon a reboot.

You'll then be asked (after a brief explanation about desktop effects) if you want to enable the driver. Click Enable Driver.

Wait for the installer file to download.

Wait for the drivers to be installed.

Then, click Close once the changes have been applied.

You'll then see that the drivers are enabled and will be available for use upon a reboot.

I'm using the drivers included with Ubuntu (which I have manually re-installed already):
