I've decided that I am probably going up upgrade my GPU for an up-coming game that goes by the name Star Citizen. As most of you know it's a fairly demanding game. So I wanted to get some advice on what to get. I'm looking to spend around $500 U.S. and I'll probably end up buying used. I was looking at an R9 295x2, and a GTX 980. I would like to hear some feedback especially from people who have either owned one of these two video cards, or who currently owns the graphics card that they recommend.

What resolution do you plan on playing at? And obviously the 295X2 will give better performance, especially at higher resolutions

right now probably just 1080 but id like to get a three monitor set up once I have the room.

a 980 would do for triple 1080 for most games not sure for starcitizen though. And it also depends on how high you want your framerates to be.

well I would definitely want a frame rate that hovers 60 fps even when there's plenty of models, textures, effects that sort of thing. I am running a GTX 760 right now and I do ok with Star Citizen running on medium to high, but i definitely notice frame rate issues. I would also want to run the game on at least high.
