Cooler Opinions?

Go to solution Solved by Guest Kloaked,

You don't need a dual tower design unless you want lower max temps for overclocks.

The D14 or D15 will be fine for you, but if you're wanting to go far with OC's, you may want the D15 depending on what temps your comfortable with.

I'm sitting on 4.4Ghz with my 2500k and I get about 60-65C on load with the D14, for example.

I am going to be upgrading my CPU cooler from the Cooler Master Hyper 212, to one of the following.  Which is the best, and why?

CPU used: Intel Core i7 4790K

Case: Fractal Design Node 804

Coolers:

Phanteks PH-TC14

Noctua NH-D15

Noctua NH-D14

be quiet! Dark Rock 3

Any others?

Do I need the dual tower design?

I am going to OC my CPU as high as I can go, and the Hyper 212 isn't going to cut it.

Cool thanks.  I do want lower idle and load temps, and I don't mind spending more to get them.

I'm using a dual tower cooler, the Raijintek Tisis. It's performers about the same as the Noctuas but is much cheaper.

Nothing to see here - move along.

I care more about the silence than the price.  How quiet is the Raijintek, and would it be worth swapping the fans?

I run the main fan PWM and the second via a controller so is pretty quiet. The case is only two feet away from me but I think the Redux fans would be quieter still.
