is there a future for 5k in gaming i mean the 5k monitor i know of has an 8ms response time which is a lot so will 5k screens be better or not

5K is a while away. 4K is barely here for most people. Response time isn't the issue, it's driving all those pixels.

8ms isn't a lot. It's still okay for gaming, maybe not for competitive play, but who's using a 5K panel for that anyway. 

 

I'm not sure if 5K will take off. It's coming around at an odd time, seeing as people are only now getting into 4K on the consumer level.

There is a future, since it's just a resolution. If the developers allow it and your rig can drive the monitor. 5k gaming baby! Doesn't really make much sense, especially if it's on a smaller screen that you are pretty close to. But if you have such a large screen that you can still see the individual pixels and you just want more crispness all together, because best quality is the name of the game. Wont see that for a while though.

5K is better since it scales ALOT better because the pixels can be divided by 2560 and 1440
