i could be wrong, but i do remember seeing an upgrade station for Disk station NAS systems. From memory they have different capacities available. Im pretty sure that you can get upgrade stations that go up to like 28TB of storage and they just plugin via e-sata or usb

thanks guys for the quick response, i am now thinking of building my own nas but cant decide on cpu to get?? the nas box will serve as a back up and a media source for various media players around the house, i will playing mostly hd.mkv files

that doesnt seem to be that CPU intensive so i would go with a cheap i3, or if you want to be super carefull, a cheap xeon processor will also do the trick.

I recommend you to have a look at the 10TB+ topic (link in my signature)
Also have a look at the "what is FlexRAID" part of the FlexRAID tutorial (that is the RAID solution I would recommend for media storage.
