Optical Drive not working?

hi!

 

I wanted to install gta 4 (a cd that I purchased several years ago) but found out that the optical drive wasn't connected. Opened the case, added the missing connector and now it opens and everything. 

 

The problem is that I've insreted the cd in several times but nothing happened, I didn't get a pop-up and its not listed in "devices and drives".

 

So what to do? I made sure everything is connected and the disk opens up just fine but it doesn't read anymore

 

Edit: I have already installed the game a few weeks back and then about a week ago I re-wired my pc for better cable management. I forgot to connect the ODD to the psu and I did that today and now this is happening

OMG I'm sooo dumb. it fixed it. I didn't restart since I was connecting the cable when the pc was off so I thought that it wouldn't do anything
