Windows 8.1 ISO help

So i downloaded the ISO of windows 8.1 and when i open it with archive manager in ubuntu that i have right now it gives me one text file READ ME in which states > This disc contains a "UDF" file system and requires an operating system
that supports the ISO-13346 "UDF" file system specification.

 

I have ubuntu 12.04 and is it playing a trick with me, do i need to burn the ISO to the DVD first to see all the files because when i open properties it states that iso is 3.8 gigabytes heavy on the disk and the txt document is only 200 bytes. Is this something wrong, should i worry about it, how to fix it?

Emm.. I don't understand what it is you're trying to do.
 

If you want to install Windows 8.1 and you have Ubuntu you will either have to burn the ISO to a DVD as you said, and then boot from the DVD. Or create a bootable USB stick with the ISO and then boot from it.

I am just worried that i opened the thing with archive manager and it showed only a text file, usualy that doesnt happen to me

You have to burn it to a DVD or make a bootable USB thumb drive.

Try using a program to mount the ISO within ubuntu, you might be able to see the contents then.

Ok now i understand, it isnt showing all the files because the ISO file must expand on a bootable media drive?

He's saying he (assuming he downloaded it legally) downloaded the Windows 8 ISO file and it only has a text file in it. He was wondering if it was broken or does he have to do something to make it work and install Windows over his Ubuntu OS.

Yeah burn the file onto a DVD, make sure the speed isn't too fast.

Doesn't really matter, at least to my understanding. Use 4x speed.

Don't worry about the files inside the ISO not showing up, just burn it to a disk/usb and install it that way
