I have an asus z87-pro motherboard and I have tried installing a g3258 pentium in it. The problem is that the motherboard lights up with the text 00 and the cpu led lights red, as if there was no cpu installed. So anyhow it didn't post. So I tried installing my i7 4770 that I had in it before and then it worked. I also tried the g3258 in another motherboard that also booted up.

The z87-pro is nearly two years old, but is it still possible for me to make the g3258 function with the z87-pro since they both work?

I was thinking of it, however I don't know how

I think with most MB you just have to plug an ethernet cable in and press the update UEFI button, but look at the OEM site for more infos

Alright I updated the BIOS, but I still have the same problem.

Have you tried reaching out the ASUS Support ?
