atapi error can 't boot pc

so my friend has run into a problem with his computer that he can not start his pc because of atapi error on his primary drive, which means he can also not get into his OS nor is it allowing it into bios has anyone got any ghetto solutions maybe?

 CPU: 
4710MQ  Ram: 8GB 1600MHz Storage:120Gb 840 Evo + 1Tb 5400Rpm HDD  Graphics: GTX 850M 2GB   Screen: 1080p IPS
