Anybody have any recommendations on any server cases? One that is rack mountable and is for a storage server.. I would also like it to have all of the drives accessible from the front.

Any amount of bays anything 8 and above would be preferred, No redundant PSU maybe I might add one after a couple of years. I am trying to find a good one that I can use Onboard Video. But it will be ATX though or mATX

Norco-4224 is what I use. They're pretty affordable, and have lots of other variants

Is yours loud? Just wondering since this will be in my bedroom closet..

What brand of motherboard? Asus boards are stupid and do not work correctly in Intel, Chenbro or Supermicro chassis. What RAID controller are you using?

I wouldn't get a Norco chassis if you're looking at 20+ bays as they cannot take a SAS expander and thus need 4-6 x miniSAS cables of a RAID controller instead of a single.

What budget did you have and in what country?

My budget is $2,300 for the whole server in the USA

Also this is my first real server :P I've always just had 2 HDDs in a raid0 and did a windows share inside of windows 7 :D

See if you can get a Silverstone RM208 or RM212. They're physically better built than Norco but don't cost as much as a good Supermicro chassis. If you can afford a Supermicro then an 825TQ would be ideal however they're redundant PSU only most of the time unless you can source the adapter bracket.

I wouldn't mind doing a redundant PSU but I feel that is going to add a lot of cost to the server.

Is yours loud? Just wondering since this will be in my bedroom closet..

not really, but I also keep it in my basement. The furnace in the next room over is way louder lol

I bought the 120mm fan wall so i could swap out the fans with quieter ones, but didn't want to waste my time installing it since the stock 80mm fans weren't that loud

What about something like this?

It's end of life enterprise hardware but it is perfectly acceptable for a home server.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/4U-Supermicro-846E1-R900B-24-Bay-Storage-Server-X8DTE-F-2x-Xeon-SIX-CORE-ASR5805-/151618634069?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item234d2cc155

Would give you $1675 to spend on disks. You could get a lot of storage for that kind of money.

As far as the case goes, it has everything you need to address 24 hard drives, and the raid card supports 0/1/5/6/50/60. It's not 6gbps, but 3gbps. Not a big deal, still enough to saturate gig-e

Well I really don't need a lot of storage and am only looking at 5-8 TB of storage right now since I am going to be building another storage server for redundancy off-site but in a computer case not a server case..
