New Build Troubles, Help! PLEASE

Ok so after saving for months and months I finally had enough money to buy a Rampage IV Extreme and a 3930k. I went and picked up the parts and then built the system, I tried to boot from my SSD, froze on the windows sign. kept trying and it kept freezing. I updated the BIOS, Cleared the CMOS, everything I could think of. Then I came to the conclusion that I would just have to do a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. I did it and it was going fine, then it got to 91% and said that some files were either missing or deleted, I tried again, same message at 91% again. I unplugged my SSD for some reason, don't remember what, but then when I plugged it back it, it wasn't getting detected, not it the BIOS nor by the Windows Installer. Please if anybody could help me out that would be amazing, I was so happy to finally upgrade and now i've been shattered by not being able to experience the glory of six cores. :'(

ps: My SSD is an OCZ Vector 256gb

Is your SSD set to AHCI mode?

It could be a possible issue with your Windows 7 disk. Do you have a Linux USB or CD that you can boot into?

Should be? You should make sure that it is.  :P

what would be the easiest way to check? considering it's not showing up in the BIOS, i'll see if it shows up through a different SATA port though.

Go through the SATA settings and you should see the option to change a port to SATA/AHCI/IDE mode.

you said you upgraded,do you still have the old pc?

 

if so test the SSD in that system to make sure it didn't die on you.

 

also do you have a spare HDD that you could use to see if the rest of the system is fine?

My settings are set to AHCI mode, and i do have the old pc but i'd move my psu back into it cause i used that when i upgraded. I'll plug my HDD in and see if that works

Does it install on your HDD fine? You may have a faulty SSD.

i'm trying to install it now, i wouldn't have thought my SSD would be faulty though because it's from my previous build and it worked fine then.

I had the same issue when installing Windows 7 x64 on my brother's PC, and the solution for me was to completely scrap the .iso... *cough* disc I was using, and to use a fresh one.

 

Have you been able to get the BIOS/Windows Installer to re-detect your SSD yet?

I tried the SSD in my old system and it couldn't detect it, maybe it died, which is really god damn annoying cause it's only like less than 6 months old, i'll have to see if i can RMA it.

I would say reformat the ssd, since you dont have anything important on there. also, how are you installing windows? bootable usb? DVD? more info please
