Hi, i just got my hands on new Auros X7 pro and was hooping to play battlefield by now, but there has been a issue with the audio in the laptop.

There is a red cross on the volume icon in the task bar and it does trouble shooting when i click it. I spent the whole day trying to trouble shoot it. when i right click the volume icon and open playback devices, i see 3 unplugged nvidia hdmi devices.

below are the things i attempted:

1. Installed and Uninstalled the audio drivers both from the Auros Website and the realtek website- multiple times

2. Checked device manager for driver issues, i can see 2 'high definition audio device ' in te sounds tab.

( all the drivers are updated and working properly. even the nvidia drivers, and the bios.)

3. i did a refresh of the system.

4. fully reset the system and repeated steps 1 to 3.

5. *in progress* full system reset in progress. waiting for it to finish and hopefully by then i get a solution in a reply.

Specs:

i7-4870hq

gtx 970m sli

16 gb ram 1866

512 gb ssd + 1 tb hdd

windows 8.1

please any help is much appriciated.

thanks in advance

From what I'm reading on the Aorus website, it seems you may need their "Command and Control" software for some reason?

"Realtek High Definition Audio (need to work with Command & Control)"

So, try with it I guess?

Audio driver

Command and Control

They also have a Driver Update software, so that could also help you.

Thanks but I have tried that :(

I tried that. I did all the possible combinations of realtek original software, the driver from the auros website, the driver from the driver updater and the driver fromthe utility pen drive provided with the laptop. I tried the beta and the official versions of all the drivers. :\. For some reason I cannot completely install the realtek driver. and it does show up in the 'hidden' part of the device manager.

Windows 8.1 has absolutely horrible support for PC Sound cards for whatever reason. My audiophile friends tell me it's because sound cards are garbage, but it could be anything.

You could try installing in compatibility mode for Windows 7
