What are you going to be using the computer for? You could save on the motherboard for sure. I would also put in an SSD for the OS. Also get a PCIe Network card if you're going wireless.

For gaming you'll be great with that 980 at 1080p for a while. I changed it to something with a cheaper motherboard that fits your black and white theme. Getting a $240 mobo isn't really necessary. I also added an SSD and PCIe network card that I personally am using. I really recommend getting one just for overall OS speed.

Thank you very much Spenser_I!! Definitely on my budget! Going to be ordering the parts soon since I'm on break. In the future I'll post a photo of the build.

Just sayin, you will regret having no SSD. How much is the cheapest 120gb now? 50 bucks or something.

Hey there. I'm fairly new to PC building. I would like some insight or advice on this build that I plan to do. I went to Pax East 2015 and won an Evga Geforce GTX 980 SC Acx 2.0 and so that reduced a butt load on the budget. I don't want to spend more than $1400 on the build, excluding the graphics card. This will be running on Windows 8.1 64-Bit. Thanks for the help, greatly appreciated.

PC Build:

lucky winner, I suggest an SSD and an i7-4790k if you are using it for content creation as it has hyperthreading

The 500R doesn't have a window (Only mesh) so colour coordination doesn't really matter.
