I just bought a Cooler Master Hyper 212 evo. So far its really quiet. But the temps still seems high. With the stock heat sink i was getting 45C and not with the new cooler i get 41C. Im using a Phenom X4 965 at stock clocks on a Gigabyte 990Fx UD3. Do these temperatures seems normal or higher?

Is it mounted properly?

I'm guessing you're talking about temps on max load, correct? Well, if they are, that's pretty good since the max temps for your processor are 65°C.

I have a Hyper 212 Plus, and my idle temps are about 27°C with an FX-8120. At max, I get around 32°C.

What is really important to consider are what you ambient temps are, if it's mounted properly, and how much thermal compound you have used.

Its when its just idle and on full load with small fft its 55-56  range. I used the thermal compound that come with it but i have some mx-2

Well, AMD has been known to run hot. When trying the new paste, remember to use isopropyl alcohol with tissue or toilet paper to clean off and when you can't see any more of it on the heatsink and CPU to go over it again with a lint-free cloth.

Can't wait to see the results!

Phenom 965 is your problem. I get 28-30c idle at 4.2 on my 2600k.

Maybe try undervolting or reseating the cooler. Possibly you didn't put enough thermal compound on the chip before mounting or it didn't spread enough.

AMD thermal sensors sensors tend to be inaccurate. That could be the issue right there.

Would you say on idle, that it felt like the cooler was around 42 degrees C?

Could just be the chip itself. Are they known for running like that?
