TigerDirect is shutting nearly all of its stores (31/34) beginning tomorrow. Various items will be marked down, like 10% off all video cards, 15% off usb drives etc etc for the entire store including desktops, laptops, and TV's. Discounts will only get steeper from there, even up to 90% is possible, the online store will remain open and not be affected by this.

My first purchase from an online retailer was Tiger direct, probably around 10 years ago iirc. Makes me sad, even though I haven't bought anything from them since we got newegg years ago.

According to someone who worked there, who created this reddit thread http://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/2ymwem/discussion_tigerdirect_is_closing_most_if_not_all/ It's unclear about the online store and it's future.

In my opinion they haven't been relevant for a while, even in the online scene. They purposefully advertise prices with the mail-in-rebate deducted already, while still being more expensive then a competitors price before MIR. I'm sure this is a huge reassurance to Logan about his decision years ago, but I feel bad for employees affected by this.

yeah I work at one also, everything from that post is legit down to the signs, the stores will be shut in 6-8 weeks but most of us are getting okay severance packages. We're hearing that the website will stay open, as it shares a back end with the b2b version of the website.

Closest one to me is in Chicago. ****.

"Normandy" i7 4790K - GTX 970 - Phantom 410 (Gun metal) - Z97 Extreme4 (asrock) - 128GB Crucial SSD - 1TB WD HDD - H60 Refurb. - 7 case fans | G710+ Keyboard, G230 Headset, Acer GN246HL Monitor.

Quick thoughts on system: I7 is extremely quick and I'm glad I spent the extra for hyper-threading. I regret my decision to get the GTX 970, it has horrible coil whine. There isn't any excuse for this terrible whine I and others are having. I HIGHLY recommend a 144hz monitor. Future Improvements/upgrades: Rubber fan mounts, basic speakers, more ram (for a total of 16gb), replace GPU.

144hz is love. 144hz is life. I like to submit unfinished posts then do about 20 edits. I like the Night Theme too.
