Turning down refresh rate

Whats going on fellas? If you turn down the refresh rate of a monitor does that generally translate into power savings over years?

Also, I'm looking for a nice office monitor under 200 not to do anything more intense than Visio.

If you want to save power, get a more efficient PSU or something. Reducing the refresh rate of your monitor is one of the worst things to do in my opinion.

Yeah I figured its going to mess up some stuff. But I was just curious if that was actually true or not.

It will save power I have my laptop set to 50hrz on the built in monitor, there really is no benefit for a standard computer monitor or TV though unless your trying to match the FPS of the video content your watching.
