Mounting hole Standards

elkenrod

Greetings.

I have noticed that many of my electronic devices and cases have mounting holes on the back of them (e.g. my router, raspberry pi and arduino cases).

My question is, do these adhere to some sort of standard.  I'm familiar with things being VESA compatible, but these don't seem to have the same spacing.

I feel dumb for asking, but I've never really looked into mounting any other hardware besides Monitors before.  Thanks.

That's a 404 link

OT: what kind of holes are they? I could be that you can hang them on the wall on nails/screws.

Yeah, I'm assuming, it's a large circle that tapers into a smaller circle.  I've seem people use this holes to mount electronics to wooden/metal panels, but my issue is that I don't know if there is a standard or not.  Like if I want to purchase a wooden board with grommets drilled in, will it accommodate my router?

As you're describing it, it's just to hang it to the wall :D It's probably not a standard, but is easily self made with some measurements.

Thanks for the help.  I will just measure and drill accordingly.

I want to mount my router, pi, etc all to my PC's case.  I wanted to see if I'd be able to reuse those mounting holes if I ended up getting a new router or something.
