Ok so I really want to upgrade my CPU from a 2300 to a 3750K (first of all is this even an upgrade worth doing?)

I can't reaaally afford the processor, but I do have enough parts changed now that I have basically ended up with 2 PCs

I just need to get another hard drive and I could sell the original parts with my current CPU but without an OS for £200 on Ebay and put that towards the new CPU (Obviously I would buy the new CPU and then use the money I intend to make back from the sale to cover the cost of the 3750), or I dunno I'm very much oooing n arrring about it all. . . HALP? Thanks

It would look like this (minus the soundcard)

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 | Cooler: Stock | RAM: 16GB Hyper Fury X RGB | GPU: RTX 2080 Super FTW3 | Motherboard: Gigabyte Aorus Elite| PSU: Corsair RM850x

I use photoshop a heck of a lot, but I dunno, I haven't had any issues thus far with current CPU (the only thing that's making me want to upgrade it is the ability to overclock it) But I do like the idea of having a spare PC incase something has to get replaced with the one I'm using I can just chuck the CPU n hard drive back in it n I'm away

hello! Both the 2300 and 3570K at 4 core 4 thread CPUs. You honestly will not see that much of an improvement between them, maybe 10-20%. Of course the 3570K does allow overlclocking(which does void your warranty on the CPU) so if you are looking into that, go for the 3570K.

I suggest that you keep on using the 2300 and save up money. And then upgrade to the 1150 platform. the reason for this is that the 1155 socket is "dead" after ivy bridge there are no more upgrade options. If you upgrade to 1150 you will have more performance, upgrade options, and features! Of course you will need a new motherboard and CPU so costs will be higher as well.

Also, photoshop is not really a CPU intensive program, your 2300 should be fine for it!

if you have any more questions, let me know!!

CPU: AMD 3950x Mobo: MSI B550 RAM: 32GB DDR4 GPU: Asus 3080 Strix PSU: Superflower Leadex 3 720w Case: BeQuiet 500DX

Storage: 2TB SSD + 4TB HDD Audio: SMSL 793ii -> HiFiman HE-400 + Mission MS-50 Speakers

So this is the system you want to put the new proc in? Otherwise if this is going to be a secondary system you don't need such a high end system, Ivy Bridge is not much of an upgrade from Sandy. If you really want it I recommend a core i3.

edit: fishy beat me to it *shakesfist* :P

No the pic is the old system I would be selling. Upgrading to 1150 is out of the question for me for atleast another 2 years.

Ahh, okay makes sense now, though you're not going to notice a massive performance increase, unless you're into overclocking, you might see some difference. If it were my decision I would, but only as a trade up, hate being locked down and in that case that proc is not overclockable. Thought you meant to put it into the build in the OP haha. gl

Ok cool, I'll think abit more. . .  Toughy init. . . It's just if I have all like overclockable ram, card but no CPU, feels abit eurrgh, but at the same time I know I probably won't see much benefit anyway so. Ok thanks, n sorry for confusing ya'll haha

I would look to upgrade your GPU more than the CPU.

I got a 7870, that'll do for a while?

Yes i suspect so.

I only have a 60hz monitor, so? 60fps is fine for me

idk why mpx would need to save up for another platform. His is good enough, there isn't enough difference between platforms to warrant a platform upgrade? If you want tho.

No I don't see much of a point in upgrading to Haswell either tbh, if maybe I could afford everything that's nice and what not then I would but an overclockable CPU and maybe another GPU at the end of the year is enough for me  :D

Yea I would just stay with your processor right now because it isn't a much of a performance difference between the one that you have now and the 3570k (around 10%). I would just save up and upgrade when you feel that it isn't fast enough for you.
