Generally you want to say at 80C or lower for a CPU, and at 95C or lower for a GPU.  If they get much higher than that, then there might be problems.

Well, for all my components, what are *completely* safe temps.

And, what are temperatures where I have to be worried.

Thanks!

For CPU: Anything below 80C is good. 85C is when you get iffy and 90C+ is when red lights should be going off. Your CPU would survive that, but it would shorten it's overall life span.

For HDD: Anything under 40C is good. 50C is when you get iffy and 60C+ is when red lights should be going off. Your HDD will have a higher risk of failing at those temperatures.

For GPU: Same as CPU.

For PSU: Same as HDD.

For Motherboard: Same as CPU.

That's about it.

Temperatures really depend on your clock speeds, cooling setup, and what load your components are under.

I tend to find under 80 Celsius for gaming laptop components under full load for a prolonged period of time is normal, maybe not? O.o

Desktops anything under 65 Celsius when regular browsing is fine I believe. O.o

Software like HDD Health (http://panterasoft.com/hdd-health/) or CrystalDiskInfo will tell you your HDD temps.

Unless you have a digital PSU (Corsair AXi series, etc.) you probably won't be able to monitor PSU temps directly.

For CPUs:

I think the phenom IIs, piledriver and bulldozer had a maximum of 62 degrees

Sandy Bridge and Nehalem shouldn't exceed 80-85 degrees during a burn test

Ivy Bridge and Haswellh shouldn't exceed 90-95 degrees during a burn test

for GPUs:

GTX 480s seem to be able to withstand anything up to 95-100 degrees

GTX 600 series GPUs are best when they don't exceed 70 degees, since they start throttling

I have no idea for other cards.

VRMs probably should not exceed 100 degrees

Hard drives should not exceed 60 degrees. It's pretty hard to get some of them up to that temperature, but I have one hard drive that I've known to shut down when a fan's not on it.

I doubt chipset temperatures will ever be dangerously high, unless something has gone wrong, or you have no airflow in your case.
