As stated in the title, I am new to android and totally new to rooting and flashing, I'd like to install CM12 on my Oneplus one, but I'm not sure how risky it is in terms of breaking my phone. I'm very careful and meticulous about this stuff and I follow the instruction's, if I do all that is it pretty safe?

Although there shouldn't be a problem with flashing it if you follow step by step, CM 12 is noted to have some bugs so just be aware of them before you commit to this because the last thing you want to do is revert back to the previous version, check out the OnePlus One forums and you'll see a lot about flashing/rooting. I'm also pretty active over there as an avid OPO owner myself.

Not very risky [ if you follow the steps and do a clean install !! ].

But cm12 is very buggy .. I'd recommend buying a bug spray .

If you don't want to buy a bug spray ..... Install simple aosp custom ROM and gravity box on top of it :) ..

^^ 10x better than current cm 12 :) ..

You will even get pie controls and some other ( really cool ) stuff .

Heyyo,

First things first! Do a backup! Titan is the most recommened method. It can be found on the Google Play Store.

On my HTC One M7? CM12 is very unstable and Google Play Services crashes a lot after I install it.. So.. you can try it on your OPO and it might be more stable, but honestly? Other than a new theme? It's only minor performance gains. The current CM11s on the OPO is fine.
