Hello friendly guys and gals,

I built a pc with the following specs: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2MwpJx. I'm getting looped restarts after probably 10 seconds or so with continuous short beeps from the mobo speaker far greater in number than any beep codes I've found. This is the first time I've attempted to build a computer, and I've done some troubleshooting on it already to no avail. The mobo definitely has power since the speaker is working and the case lights/buttons seem to function fine, the GPU's fans and lights function, the case fans and cpu fan all function, so I'm not really sure where the issue may be coming from... maybe defective ram as it is the only parts not bought brand new (though it was unused and still in original packaging; approximately 1.5 years old). Unfortunately I have no other compatible ram laying around to check that. I've tried 1 ram stick at a time in different sockets, switching gpu to the other pci-express slot, removing and replacing the battery after some time, unplugging everything from the mobo except the gpu, cpu & heatsink, ram - none of this has helped.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have done that - you must have missed that part :P So either both of them are dead or the problem is elsewhere.

Sorry, I kind of TL;DR'd on the paragraph. Did you try reseating the external power connector and all the connections from the PSU to the components?

No problem I probably should have been more concise. I had done most of them before, but just cut some cable ties to troubleshoot the rest of them. Same thing is still happening. The very first time I started up the system, the external power connector was only plugged in like half way inadvertently... this couldn't have caused a short or anything like that right?

It might've, you may have blown a capacitor or something.

Fuck. If that's the case I'd need a new gpu or a new mobo? Also, on start-up that first time it did the exact same thing if that helps at all.

Do you think I should pay the $ to get a tech to check it out before I start going through with the process of returning / getting new hardware?
