pc build help

Go to solution Solved by Guest,

I would stick with Z97.

If you want GTX 980 SLI then you want a 1440p or 4K screen to make the most of it.

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($279.99 @ Micro Center)
CPU Cooler: Corsair H105 73.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler  ($109.98 @ NCIX US)
Motherboard: MSI Z97-GAMING 5 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($129.99 @ Amazon)
Memory: Kingston Savage 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-2133 Memory  ($121.99 @ Amazon)
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 980 4GB Twin Frozr Video Card (2-Way SLI)  ($549.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 980 4GB Twin Frozr Video Card (2-Way SLI)  ($549.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Case: Phanteks Enthoo Luxe ATX Full Tower Case  ($139.99 @ NCIX US)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (OEM) (64-bit)  ($89.98 @ OutletPC)
Total: $2288.87
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

well for the pc my lowest is 2000 butt i cold save up some more money to add more to like ram or a second gpu as for the  Monitors maybe 400.btw i am not planeing on get the parts tell like jun (unless there on sale some where)

If you are purely gaming (No video editing/rendering/streaming etc) then you can drop down to an i5 4690K and 8GB Ram. You could also drop the cooler down to the Coolermaster Hyper Evo 212.

So something like this:

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($199.99 @ Micro Center)
Motherboard: MSI Z97-GAMING 5 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($143.98 @ Newegg)
Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon R9 290X 4GB WINDFORCE Video Card  ($334.99 @ NCIX US)
Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro ATX Full Tower Case  ($99.99 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: EVGA 850W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply  ($114.99 @ Micro Center)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (OEM) (64-bit)  ($89.98 @ OutletPC)
Total: $1073.89

That leaves you with plenty of money for 2 Monitors.

But if you are not buying until June, then the new AMD 300 graphics cards should be ready for release. Also Broadwell (The next Intel cpu) should hopefully be available by then as well.

DDR4 is a waste of money. It's like throwing it at an enemy at an RPG. It's not very effective.

You won't see any benefit with DDR4 for gaming.

I didn't know if you had an SSD or not, but you can add one in if you need it. The Samsung 850 Evo is a good SSD.

The spec I posted with the i7 4790K will do all that. If you are not buying until June though, then wait for the new AMD cards and Broadwell.

may i ask what is roge about the build my frined gave me?

Where do I start.....

The FX-9590 is not a good choice to start with. It runs very hot (That is the main reason you need a high end cooler) and a lot of the AM3+ boards don't support it. You need a board that can cope with the 220W TDP.

The Ram is massive overkill both in quantity (32GB) and cost ($609). You only need 8GB or 16GB if you want to push the boat out. I wouldn't expect to pay any more than $150 tops.

Spending nearly $300 on a 6TB HDD is nuts. You can get 2 x 3TB Seagate drives or similar for less than $200 if you need that much storage.

The 8GB graphics cards are a waste of money. Just go with the standard 4GB ones. They might be useful for 1440p surround, but for a single 1080p monitor they are not really needed.

The 1600W psu is massively overpowered. You only need 850W for R9 290X crossfire.

All the extra fans are not really needed. The phanteks has pre-installed ones which should suffice.

You can get a slightly cheaper version of win 8.1. The 64-bit one listed at $89.98 is fine.

i am look it on amozon it say it onley 4.4 the amd one 4.7 i dont see how that is better

Intel cpu cores are significantly more powerful than AMD. Understanding why that is requires a deeper understanding of cpu architecture than can be present here. You can verify the fact by looking at various benchmarks. http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1289?vs=1260 is fairly simplistic, but you should get a good idea of just how much more powerful the Intel cpu is.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
