Hey guys so I am in a bit of a pickle here. What is this pickle I speak of you might ask? Well to keep it short I am still fairly inexperienced in the PC building ways and I am looking for parts so that I too may join the PC Master Race. Anyway back to the point I am looking for a rig that would be considered more of a hybrid since I will be gaming on it, along with doing some digital art on it as well. Now as far the most important detail......the budget I will have roughly around a $900 budget. I say roughly because I am "willing" to go over but would much rather stay under as this doesn't include a monitor or keyboard.  Now that you see the situation help would be much appreciated.

I have a few questions:

#1 Do you overclock?

#2 What are you going to use your pc for? I assume gaming

#3 Do the looks of your build matter?

#4 Do you need an OS?

#5 Can you salvage parts from previous builds, such as a hard drive or dvd drive bay?

And FX-8350 or i5 - 4440 are all within reach, and then he'll still have enough money to combine it with an R9 280(X) or GTX 960

as far as other items to take into account that I had forgotten was a monitor like you suggested and a keyboard I have a mouse. thanks for the help.

k, then maybe get a lower class mobo and cpu, and add the display and keyboard don't go low as i3 or h8x z8x chipsets stay in the i5 and 9x series my opinion do ur best look around 4 parts and deals (mobo u need pciex 3.0, for the G.card) and if u don't play very hardcore games u can Squeeze in 2 a 4gb ram setup, just remember its always better to buy a kit then a single module

2 to 4 GB ram is low. Especially 2GB. Don't do that, if you dont play video games go for 4GB . If you do , 8GB is a must IMO.

Yes tests have proven that 4GB is theoretically enough, but once you reach that limit it's going to hurt your gameplay.
