Ok guys so my brother just got a computer built and everything almost runs smoothly. He keeps telling me that when he trusts to play a game it crashes and gives him some error. But what I see when I mess with his computer is a checkered screen with artifacts( looks almost like the static from and old tv but with more color pixels) so my question is, is the graphic card doa. It is a brand new card. It's a sapphire r9 280 I think I can get the proper specs later from my brother. He is running a

amd 8350 8 core cpu

gigabyte ga-970A-3sdp rev 1.0

Segate 1tb hdd (storage and os)

Os is Windows 7

A Roswell 500w psu if I'm not mistaken

Please let me know if you had this issue before as well and thank you

Seems Dead on Arrival (DOA)

Go back to store, stating what happens (artifacts when playing games) & RMA it.

They will send it off to the GPU partner for tests/replacements.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

I wonder if the PSU may potentially be a concern. What graphics card did he have previously, out of curiosity? Was it one requiring a connection from the power supply?
