SSHD vs. HDD

I was curious as to which was a better value. Looking for speed and reliability. Planning on having either 2 at 2tb each or just one at 4tb.

SSHDs are pretty awesome. I had an old SSDNow V300 in my laptop (the one with the good controller) and I didn't notice a difference switching it for a 500gb SSHD. Although there was a massive difference from SSHD to HDD, so IMO they are totally worth it.

That doesn't really say anything for SSHDs, it says something AGAINST the v300. I do really like SSHD's for affordable mass storage though.

 

As for HDD vs SSHD, SSHD's are very nice, but a bit more expensive.

My V300 got around 450mb/s read and write. It was from the first month they released them.

I would suggest making your own SSHD instead of buying one. The combo units tend to have a wimpy 8GBs of NAND and usually a 5400rpm drive.

SSHD are good for Laptops

SSHD it is really good i have one in a laptop it is a lot better than a hard drive

SSHD is way faster in time you would prefer it but they die out a little bit faster than HDD so if you do get one back it up with acronis true image home with an old hard drive. Make sure you put your os on the SSHD.
