So I have been having packet loss issues with my network with full signal 2.4GHz "N." I forced my computer to use 5GHz "AC" and all the issues went away! Even with one bar of signal. I am using the Ubiquiti UniFi AP AC.

PSA: The Ubiquiti UniFi AP AC is a VERY directional AP and as I learned the hard way, WILL perform better if mounted on the ceiling above devices.

Question: Anyone know of a cheap dual band antenna (high gain plz) that will work with the onboard wifi card on the Asus X99-PRO?

EDIT: My signal is currently at -82DB at my PC.

So you have packet loss on the 2.4GHz but not the 5GHZ band. Correct? does the 5Ghz 802.11 N have the same packet loss?

if not then something is interfering badly with the 2.4Ghz band try changing the Wi-Fi channel, or try to find out what is causing the interference. IE: cordless phones, baby monitors, wireless mice, keyboard, headset/headphones. anything that is wireless that is not Bluetooth could possibly interfere.
