I just got off the phone with a Asus rep that said to install the bios to a 8 gig flash drive. I got it installed on a 16 gig drive. he said that it might screw up the install because it cant read the bigger drive right. is this right or will I be ok?

I think the Asus rep has no idea what he's talking about. First, bios files are tiny (I'm talking megabytes here) which means you could install on 1GB drive and be fine, and second, the bios can flash from a bigger drive.

I've built 3 PC's, but none for myself... In fact, I'm using an iMac that my dad bought for me as my desktop. Awkward...

Please don't say "SSD drive." By doing so, you are literally saying "Solid State Drive Drive" and causing my brain cells to commit suicide. The same applies to HDD (Hard Disk Drive) and PCIe (Peripheral Component Interconnect Express).

Awesome thank you. I didn't think it mattered but since I have never flashed a bios yet thought best to post here and see.

They were probably confused with the transfer file size limits of FAT32, which is the necessary format for using the ASUS BIOS Flashback.

I've loaded multiple BIOS's onto multiple 16GB+ sticks and everything goes according to plan as long as the BIOS has been renamed properly and is within the root of the device. If you're not using the BIOS Flashback function it can read the .cap off any format of USB, I've even pulled them straight from my installed SSD, although that is not the recommended method.

Yeah he showed me how to get the renamer tool and to rename my file. and he made sure I got it installed on the drive. the drive size came up after the fact. pretty sure I will only update the bios if something is unstable though.
