CX 430M Large enough

Go to solution Solved by Godlygamer23,

1.)Yes.

2.) At that point, 500 watts is recommended

3.)Some SSDs can consume less than a watt under load.

Hello,

There are a lot of is PSU (x) powerful enough for build (y) threads out there but I couldn't find one that specifically covered a similar build to mine with such a small PSU.

My Build:

CPU: i5 4670K

MoBo: Gigabyte Z87X-D3H

RAM: Corsair Vengeance Blue 1600 DDR3

Cooler: Noctua NH-U12S

GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 650 Ti OC

Case: Fractal Design R4 Define

HDD: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB

PSU: CX430M??????????? I have one already so seeing if I can save 70-80 bucks....

Everything I've read seems to suggest this would be enough power for an unoverclocked system it just may not be in the PSUs most efficient range.

I'm wondering

1) Is that true, should the CX430M be enough for this system as is.

2) Will overclocking make it not powerful enough and if so would it be 4.2, 4.4..., that I should draw the line at

3) The effect of adding and SSD .... seems to be < 5 w

Sorry if there is a thread that has these answers. If you could direct me to that it would be much appreciated.

i5-4670 k, Gigabyte Z87X-D3H, Corsair Vengeance 2x4gb, Noctua NH-U12S, GTX 650 Ti OC, Corsair AX 760, Fractal Design Define R4

@HURM

I know it's answered just thought it might put your mind at ease.

gtx 650 ti - 90 watts (furmar,absolute max)

i5 4670K - 65 watts

NF-F12 - 1 watt

define R4 case fans - 7 watts

HDD- 10 watts

total ~173 watts

1.definitely

2.I'd say you should be fine overclocking it to 4.5ghz provided the voltage is less than 1.4v

3.The most I've seen an SSD take is 3 watts, typically it's less than 1 watt.
