Here is my current (and old) rig:

CPU: AMD Phenom 9550

RAM: 4GB

MOBO: mATX Generic HP (Has only PCIe 1.0x16 :/ )

GPU: 8800 GTS

PSU: Corsair CX430w

I was wondering if I would be able to throw in a AMD Radeon 7850 and not have any bottleneck on the GPU? If there would be a large bottleneck, what would be a good GPU to get? The reason I ask about a 7850 is because they can be found for a decent price and have a decent amount of performance that I dont believe would be bottlenecked by the CPU. I saw the scrapyard build that Linus and Luke recently did and Linus used a 7850 with a Q6600 which my resaerch says isnt much different from the Phenom 9550.

Thanks in advance!

linus used a 7950......................... the 8800 gts, what one?........... and no matter what card you buy, it will be very cpu bound.

what resolution are you gaming at?  and would you consider a 6670 or r9-250 instead?

I have the 8800 gts with only like 300mb of vram... I usually have dual monitors but when I game I usually run at 720p but my main monitor is 1680 x 1050.

( 320 card? - I have one of those ) you're cpu bound. use the card you have.

I get really good performance with it but I would like to play games such as the new battlefield hardline (no need for max settings what so ever) and I read that the recommended AMD cpu is the Phenom 9500 which is actually a little lower in performance than my 9550. My only problem is I only have 320 MB of VRAM and I would like to have a card that performs as well or a bit better with at least 1GB of VRAM.

forget what the halfwits that are selling the game say. you are cpu bound. As I remember going back and thinking through my cards and machines...............if you can get a 7850 for a really good price, buy it.

forgot, I have the 640 card.
