Best CPU Cooler?

Go to solution Solved by dadasmithywinkle,

Should I save up a bit longer for a refurbished H100i? I heard the H100i is loud as hell though...

I wouldnt. If you're gonna save up, get an H105. Otherwise, get the H80i.

It will have a bit more performance, as it is a 240mm rad. If you're looking at the H100i for 71, just get the H110 for 74 :)

H80i then :)

Dude, just save your money until you can buy a real 240mm AIO.  Seriously.  You are creating a post a day, if not more regarding this same issue, and the answer has been the same every time.

If you just want looks, then buy the least expensive 120mm AIO, because they are all going to perform about the same as your 212 EVO, even the H80i.

Save your money.  Buy something that looks great and performs great too.  Anything less, and you are going to be upset with yourself.

But the answer has been different from everyone..

Its hard to decide because its a few degrees between the H80i and the H100i yet I have heard the latter is loud as fuck..

I just hate waiting money so I do as much research as possible.

Its been different from everyone because you keep changing the parameters.  First it was 30 quid, then 50, now 60 with the ability to spend more if you wait.  You should absolutely wait until you can buy a proper AIO for your CPU.  Anything less than 240mm for the CPU is not a good enough improvement over a good air tower cooler, unless you are going purely for aesthetics, then you should just buy the least expensive 120mm AIO you can find.  With any AIO, you will still be able to get the same OC you already have, that won't change.  It only changes the loudness, and how much lower of temperatures you can get.  If that is worth it to you, then hold out for a bigger AIO.  Otherwise, go for the least expensive 120mm you can find.

Both H80i and H100i are loud.  Both also have bad mounting on LGA1150 and often require the washer mod.  They also have loud fans.  And, according to @i_build_nanosuits, the H80i provided very little performance gains over his 212 EVO, and only caused a lot more noise.

Learn to be patient, and you will end up with the best possible results.  Wait for enough money for the Cooler Master Nepton 240M.  It is Noctua level silence and performance, comes with a 5 year warranty, has a nice aesthetic, and you don't have to replace the fans because they are incredibly high end stock fans.

240M I understand is amazing but it will take me so long to get to that level :(

I will have to see how my money goes.

So would the H100 be a worthy upgrade in performance AND volume?

You aren't going to get an AIO that is more quiet than an air tower unless you get a Nepton 240M. For performance, the H100 is a big upgrade.

I'll just get a H100 and when sound begins to bother me, Noctua to the rescue :)

This is also not a good plan. Just save enough money from the start and buy a high end water cooler. Don't try and fix an outdated one with very expensive fans. It's like trying to go custom loop on an FX8. You should just save money for an i5 from the start.

If you want silence and performance, save up for the Nepton 240M. Otherwise, if you just want aesthetics, go for the least expensive AIO you can get a hold of.

No you don't get how teenage money works.

It takes a long time to save money so paying for things in parts is ideal.

Champagne taste with beer money never works out in the end.

You could do it your way, but I think that is impulsive.  Be patient, and get the product that is right for you, not the temporary fix.  By the way, Noctua fans aren't all they are cracked up to be.  Yea, they have low noise, but their performance leaves a lot to be desired.  Pretty bad when an $8 fan provides better noise to performance than a $25 Noctua.

I heard COUGAR make a good silent fan.

I would prefer Be Quiet!
