Hi all,

So for Christmas, after all my problems with R9 290's, I got a GTX 960. A good card for 1080p, but limited only to 2GB of VRAM. I can see the limit while playing certain games taking its toll.

I'm heading to the USA next year, and I was considering buying a GPU when I'm over there (I've done the research, I know which brand to buy from so the warranty is still good etc, and I've also checked that I can bring it back into the country as long as it is under £390 of worth). The limit of £390 would limit me to either a 980 (if the price has dropped by then), a 970, or whatever nVidia has to offer at that current time (if they have brought out anything else). I would usually have considered buying an AMD card by all means, but the trouble I went through with the 2 R9 290's I had (one on separate occasions) has put me off.

Would it be worth me getting a new card while I'm over there?

selling the r9 290s for a 960 wasn't the best Idea, but yeah a 970 will be good for 1080p

I had returned the first 290, got another one for roughly the same price and it still had issues, when I returned that I got told by the vendor that they could only give me what they were selling the card for at the time of return, and that left me just enough to get a 960 G1 Gaming

new gpus make existing gpus cheaper.

Lolwut, selling 290 for a 960?

And yeah once the 300 series comes out, the prices for the Nvidia cards will no doubt drop

Didn't sell a 290 for a 960, read what I've put....

And I know this. Or they may just release something else

UPDATE.

So, I'm relatively slow. But I just found out that DX12 will support stackable RAM.

This means I could just get another 960 and put it in SLI. 2+2 = 4,which is more than 3.5GB of good RAM.

Worth?

Only if the game dev implement it.
