A 960 is similar to an R9 285, and a 760 is more like a 280.

Direct comparisons between the R9 280 and R9 285 here and here. Basically they are within a few percentage points of each other, with either one coming out slightly ahead depending on the game.

 

The R9 280 has 3 GB of VRAM, but the benchmarks are what they are and in most games it won't matter. I'd get the cheaper of the two, personally.

If you REALLY want freesync, 285.

Otherwise, I would still get 280 because of 3GB of vram.

AFAIK 285 also supports downsampling in the newest Catalyst drivers, 280 doesn't.

In most games, benchmarks and reviews the 285 and 280 actually trade blows with each other. Get the 280 because it has 50% more vram than the 285. This will come in handy, especially in future titles.

The 285 is slightly faster, but if the 280 is cheaper get that.

Same as above, in some games the 280 will get better performance, in others the 285. There's a small difference.

I'd go for the 280 as it has 50% more VRAM, which is more futureproof than 2GB.

They are around the same price normally.

But right now the 285 is £5 cheaper.
