Just to clarify, by "stock overclock" you mean it is NOT oc'd,  and we're talking 4.0 ghz base with 4.4 turbo??...or that you used a stock OC profile to get it to 4.4 base?

If you used a stock OC profile, it can sometimes set the voltages higher than they need to be, what is your voltage at?

If you have not OC'ed it at all, then I definitely think that is too hot, and would suggest re-seating/re-applying thermal paste

year turbo to 4.4

voltage right now is 0.8v

at 100% 1.2v

You don't turbo to 4.4 on 4 cores. You do this:

1 core load = 4.4

2 cores load = 4.4

3 cores load = 4.3

4 cores load = 4.2

If you open Intel XTU you should see your turbo boost setup.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

now it is running at 73-80c after remounting the CPU cooler i still think it a bit hot my room temp is 25c

I wouldn't run it over 75c 24/7, but if you're getting those temps using a synthetic load, i wouldn't worry about it. Your real-world temps will be lower. If you want to do further testing though, replace it with the stock intel cooler if you still have it. You havn't OC'ed, so it will do just fine. Then you will have a better idea if the cooler is starting to fail or not.

Well you aren't running hot enough to start causing CPU instability.....feel free to wait on others opinions, but at this point id start thinking about a windows refresh. 90c is hot even for a synthetic load on a non-OC'ed CPU, stock cooler or not. If you are also having issues with OS freezing, that's where 'd go next.

re install windows?

Forgot to ask, are you using windows 8?   If so, then you dont need to re-install Windows, you can just do a refresh, it saves all your files and only re-installs system files.

You can do this by going to your charm menu, then searching for "PC Settings", Go to Update and Recovery at bottom, and choose the top option to REFRESH windows.

i did that and it started just now

:)  I wouldnt run any stress test right now....do some heavy gaming or production work(whatever you would NORMALLY be maxing out your CPU doing). This will give you the "real-world" load temps you need to see, synthetic loads always run hotter.
