New cpu cooler

So my CPU cooler is a little outdated and i was thinking of upgrading, but i'm not sure how to go about buying a new, can i just get any or does have to be compatible with my mother board?

What "CPU cooler" do you have currently ?

FX 6300 @ 4.2 Gigahurtz 1.325V ,  ASRock 970 Extreme 4 mobo  ,  Kingston Hyperx Blu 2X4GB @1600Mhz  , Asus GTX 960 DCU ii Black OC  , Hyper 212 Evo , Samsung 850 Evo 250 GB , WD 1 TB caviar Green , Xonar DG sound card , Seasonic M12ii Evo 620W PSU , Corsair 200R case ,4 random case fans.

I have the stock one it came

Stock AMD Heatsinks are kinda loud at high system loads !

I would recommend you get a better aftermarket CPU cooler like Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo which I can recommend personally as I have using It for over 1.5- 2 Years .

I have a FX6300 and was annoyed by the stock heatsink that came with the CPU too !

Thermal paste is included in the box with the hyper 212 which should be sufficient for multiple uses and is good enough for a 4300
