Hi I recently purchased a GeForce GTX 980 a Asus Strix edition and installed in my rig. Recently I've been having a lot of problems with what I believe to be the card however I am not 100% sure after installing this card in my system I started experiencing random restart issues. By this I simply mean that the computer in the middle of the game will simply shut down all by itself and restart. I thought that it might be overheating so I looked into that and turns out everything is fine I have ran several CPU and GPU stress tests and everything is come out fine I have also noticed that it's not consistent and that it will sometimes happen two minutes into a game or two hours once again it's very random. My next thing on the checklist was the PCIE slots were bad so I switched out to a different PCIE slot however I have still experience the issues. I have reinstall the drivers and even gotten a new hard drive and re-installed windows just to make sure that there was no driver related issues however I am still experiencing the same problem if anyone could help that would be greatly appreciated. I am also posting this because my 30 day return policy from Newegg is almost up and I just don't want to be stuck with a $650 card that doesn't work properly

Here are the specs on my rig

Intel core i7 4770k

8gb of G skill ripjaw X ddr3 clocked at a little bit over 2000 MHz

Rosewill 80 plus bronze 650 watt power supply

A gigabyte z97x-sli motherboard

And of course my GTX 980. Keep in mind that the card is running the factory over clock settings I have done no tampering with the core clock

cant find out how much ampere this card needs on the 12v rail, but your psu might cause this problem. but yeah a return is a good thing to do

and if you got them balls then flash bios..^^

If one does not fail at times, then one has not challenged himself.

It could be the card. One thing I would check first would be make sure none of your MOBO power cables became loose when you installed your card. I had similar restart issues as you when I installed my last GPU. It sounds a bit silly but when I put in my last 980 I loosened my 8 pin connector and that was the problem.

Good luck.
