So my friend just got Garry's Mod (and CS:S and HL2), and a few of my other friends wanted to set up a server just for us. So we were thinking and I was like "how about hamachi!". Everybody's like 'ok cool, awesome.' but my friend says he doesn't have hamachi. So I link him to the logmein web page, he downloads it and installs it, but we can't seem to set it up, because he can't figure it out. We're like stop screwing around, we're showing you what to do, BUT then he starts screen sharing and it's completely different. Basically can anybody tell me if Hamachi did in fact get an update, or he downloaded the wrong thing, and if we all have to update.

Thanks in advance!

-Matt

Just use a VPN instead, have someone with a fast connection host the vpn server. I never had any luck with Hamachi. Every time I tried it, it never worked.

Now, I just run a VPN server on my NAS/game server at home and when my friends want to play older games, we all connect to the VPN and then play on "LAN" in games.

You could just open the ports on your router that way you dont have to use a private network program, but if you cant do that, then https://www.evolvehq.com/welcomeis your best bet. It has a party system, and anyone in the party is connected to the party network.
