I doubt that a virus would do that. I mean it would be possible, if somehow it flashed your motherboard with some dodgy flash that wouldn't boot but unlikely.

I've also noticed my post count dropping by a couple of dozen every once in a while.

Does anyone know what the difference between "Posts" and "Active Posts" are?

This.

Virus wouldn't stop posting, crumby components failing will though. Usually RAM.

As far as active, I think that's posts in active threads, so if you posted in a thread that gets locked or deleted or some such. That would be my guess.

Bad luck I assume. Maybe those people aren't paying attention while doing something, or maybe they screwed with their BIOS. Then again, maybe a cap died.

Pretty sure Snickerzz didn't mean virus as in "computer virus." He meant it as in quite a few people are unable to get past POST with their builds as some kind of mini epidemic.

A virus can corrupt the master boot record, but that is easy enough to fix.

No way that would happen.  If word of it leaked, there would be a huge class action suit against the maker of the board.

IF .............. hmmm i saw an increase in murder rates the other day......

But jokes aside, yes they would be in lot of trouble if it were true, but it's probably not.
