GPU Usage and Temp Question

Go to solution Solved by Nup,

Any other way to clean a PC without compressed air can?

i can't find it anywhere

even on and PC hardware store :|

do i need to do a OCCT test like Veimik said?

i run everything at stock

Yeah I just use a cloth, a small paint brush for cooler fins and my good ol lungs :P

Compressed air does make it go a lot faster though,

Em, i wouldn't. Tbh if the pc hasn't crashed or anything then i would deem it to be ok.

If you really want to be sure put it under one stress tests and if it can run those for a while then there should really be no problem. But since everything is at stock, i wouldn't bother. :P

Iv never hear of that program... so i wouldn't really be able to tell....

When i play CS:GO and not capped my FPS

is it usually jumpy from 60 to 90% usage?

Because sometimes my FPS dropped, between 200-400

is it because many people join, or maybe the GPU load when there's a nade throwed?

and is it normal temps with this FPS

Not Capped FPS = 59 - 63 Degrees

241 FPS or 181 FPS = 56-59 Degrees

121 FPS = 48-55 Degrees

and the VRAM usually reach 1000 ?

My GPU is Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming

First of, get this man some Vsync. Second off, those temps are fine, though I don't see how CS:GO makes a 970 go that hard even on those frames.

CPU: INTEL Core i7 4790k @ 4.7Ghz - Cooling: NZXT Kraken X61 - Mobo: Gigabyte Z97X SLI - RAM: 16GB G.Skill Ares 2400mhz - GPU: AMD Sapphire Nitro R9 Fury 4G - Case: Phanteks P350X - PSU: EVGA 750GQ - Storage: WD Black 1TB - Fans: 2x Noctua NF-P14s (Push) / 2x Corsair AF140 (Pull) / 3x Corsair AF120 (Exhaust) - Keyboard: Corsair K70 Cherry MX Red - Mouse: Razer Deathadder Chroma

Bit of an AMD fan I suppose. I don't bias my replies to anything however, I just prefer AMD and their products. Buy whatever the H*CK you want.

The fps and temps aren't really link directly, so to speak.

Those temps are perfectly fine. The reason why you may be seeing more usage on your gpu when you take the fps cap off is because its working to obtain its maximum, as opposed to only doing as much as it needs to get 60 fps.

There are tons of reasons for fps drops, in game demanding sequences could be a reason, yeah.

I presume that your vram "1000" value is in mhz? if so, then yes, perfectly normal, this is the speed it runs at (like the speed of regular ram) :)

Bleigh!  Ever hear of AC series?

Yup, that's okay. It happens to me too. It's just how it works.

Because sometimes my FPS dropped, between 200-400

With that high amount of fps (which, honestly, you don't need THAT much, up to 200, 250 is far more than enough) it's completely normal.

Not Capped FPS = 59 - 63 Degrees

241 FPS or 181 FPS = 56-59 Degrees

121 FPS = 48-55 Degrees

These are also fine.

What is your CPU btw.?

Oh i see

i'm just worried because the temps is so much higher then maybe a month ago

don't know if its the ambient or dust or maybe both :|

Yep i capped my FPS to 121

i just want to test if my GPU works correctly and i want to check the max temp.

my CPU is i7-4790

so you play CSGO ?

i want to ask

why is when i capped the FPS at 121

i usually get 117-119 FPS on net_graph 1 ?

Use OCCT for that. You can test both CPU and GPU there, it's a cool program.

Well, honestly... I have no idea :P It just works that way I guess.

Ambient temps and dust would do that :P

Seeing as that its winter (At least over here) the heating may be going up :P its does add a good bit.

I dont think that there should be too much of a difference from dust, how long have you had it? and what case do you have? is it filtered?

Bleigh!  Ever hear of AC series?

So the OCCT will tell me if my hardware is faulty or not?

I'm just too lazy to do the test haha :|

Emm

I bought it 1.5 month ago

my case is HAF Stacker

yes its filtered

and i'm using 2 AF120 intake fan at the front

and stock exhaust fan

and CPU cooler is Hyperx 212 Turbo

I don't think that dust would do much harm then.

Do clean your case a couple times a year though :)

Must be the heating :P I wouldn't worry too much bout it. so long as it isn't a crazy spike up in temp then you should be all good.

Well, if there were no glitching or anything in the 3DMark test, then you don't have to do it, I guess. Also, you're runing at stock, so that should be perfectly fine.

unless you drool like no ones business in its fine, just a little wipe will do the job :P

yeah, i tend to brush the fans then blow on them and it will displace all of the resettled dust from the brush :)
