I upgraded my motherboard a while back and had always used a USB mic and headset so I never encountered this problem. When I plug a pair of headphones into the green 3.5 mm headphone jack on the motherboard, there is no sound. I have uninstalled and re-installed the drivers from the manufacturers website, ensured that the headphones work with other devices and tested with different pairs, made sure they were enabled in the bios, have them selected as the default, and when I ran the windows audio troubleshooting tool, the result was that the headphones weren't plugged in. I don't know what could be happening.
