I was wondering what would be the best fan placement in my case(pun intended). I have two options:

-1x120mm fan front intake fan and 1x120mm rear exhaust fan

-1x120mm fan side panel intake and the 120mm rear exhaust

I have a Cooler Master HAF ATX 912 Plus, GTX 760 and I5 4460 with stock cooler and no overclocking whatsoever.

Thank you in advance for the replies,

    Cheers!

One rear 120 fan exhaust, and a front 120 intake.

Good luck with the case! :D

Try side intake and monitor your drive temps. If they're okay, you should leave it that way.

I have two intake fans (filtered) on my case and no exhaust (except for psu). Adding a third fan as exhaust made no noticeable improvement, so I removed it. I guess it works a little like radiators, where 240 mm in push works better than a 120mm in push/pull.

It.. doesn't work like rads. Cooling has to do with positioning of fans to remove heat and supply cool air as quickly as possible.

It kind of does, 2 fans in parallel (2 in OR 2 out) will move more air than 2 fans in series (1 in, 1 out). There is simply more fan area, and as long as you have enough "holes" to allow that volume to escape, translate into more cfm. Fan placement could be more crucial than the amount of air you move, but if you have exhaust ventilation at the right places, more cfm is better.

No, that's a blanket statement and airflow isn't that simple. Use any large case and lack of exhaust can result in trapped heat.

Rads perform depending surface area of the fins and not so much the fans.

I'm just telling you what I found out testing with my own case, and I did say that fan placement could be more important, but 2 fans in parralel simply move more air than 2 in series.

Thanks guys, I think Ill do some experimenting, trying all the scenarios and monitoring my temps to see which one will perform the best.

Btw, how hot can my HD get before its unsafe?? And is it affected by gaming?

Thank for the patience guys, new PC enthusiast here, just built my first PC yesterday :)

Try to keep it below 40c if possible.
