The corsair k30 and k40 seem pretty similiar to me except the additon backlight colours on the k40. I only sue red leds so would i be better paying about £15 less and buying the k30 or will it offer a decrease in actual gaming performance?

just go with whatever you like peripherals dont affect performance, but remember, they do affect ergonomics

The only difference is that the K40 has RGB, just ket the K30 and save your 15 pounds.

Both are great. Whichever you like the aesthetics of more will probably suit you more.
