More thoughts on two keyboards ....

In addition to an earlier post about razor tournament mechanical keyboards, i would like to ask any opinion or general feedback on these two keyboards.

The Adesso one is said to use CherryMX Blues. I hope this is true.

I guess since CherryMX's patent went up the overall consensus  is that these newer mechanical keyboards are just not as good and not worth the premium price tags

Thats rubbish.  The Kailh switches are plenty good, I actually prefer the Kailh greens over the MX Blues(personal preference)  Also, I found that the key caps on the Corsair K70 non-RGB keyboard were incredibly loose and had a lot of wiggle to them, a common complaint of Kailh switches, not the case with the Tesoro Lobera Supreme with Kailh Browns or Razer Blackwidow Ultimate.

The thing is, this is a sensory peripheral.  Keyboards, Mice, Headphones, these types of products are all sensory peripherals, and your preference is different from the next persons.  I really don't recommend buying anything without trying it out first.  Its impossible to know what switch type you will like until you try it first hand, on a full keyboard.

Thanks for the reply

I don't disagree with what you say.  I guess they feel very similar, at least according to reviews. One being from LTT.. the thing that worries me , and maybe this is just becuase of what was said in the LTT Review on the Razor Blackwidow 2014, about the manufacturing conditions . When i think of German made parts i think quality, and not just on CherryMX switches.

My question now is how would this effect the longevity? shelling out $100+ on a Keyboard that is going to have to be shipped is why I am so curious.

What was said about the manufacturing conditions?  I remember that yea, it is made in China, but Razer has someone on the factory floor doing their own QA.

German is better than Chinese, without a doubt, unequivocally they kick China's ass at high end engineering, and not just keyboard switches.

Longevity is something I am also very concerned about on a $100+ keyboard.  The problem is, all of these companies generally have just a one year warranty on their keyboards.  I can only think of 3 keyboards that have longer than one year warranties.  The Corsair K70 RGB, and Logitech Orion Spark both have two year warranties.  The Thermaltake TteSports Poseidon Z(X) is the lone manufacturer that has a 5 year warranty, and they use kailh switches.

There keyboards are just more prone to failure than others.  Thats just the nature of these keyboards.  Whether its a switch dying or an LED, these things just have more points of failure than membrane keyboards.  There is inherent risk involved with these keyboards, its something you will have to swallow.

No matter what brand you go with, there is always a chance of failure.  I have heard that Ducky has an outstanding record of high quality keyboards, and I ended up going with a Ducky for my 2nd mechanical keyboard, it should arrive on Wednesday, but looking at the Ducky Owner's Club on OCN, these keyboards tend to fail as well.

I think you just have to keep in mind that there is a potential for these keyboards to have a point of failure.  These are not cheap toys, so be willing to stomach a disappointment.  If this is something you cannot stomach, or you haven't had a chance to try one of these first hand, or find a switch type that you are in love with, then maybe a mechanical keyboard isn't for you.  I am just entering the realm of mechanical keyboards, and learning as I go, but there are some flaws that are abundantly obvious.

Well Like any mechanical device , it will eventually fail or need repairs.  Like hard drives, even the top tier ones, they too have a 5 year warranty. My WD1501FASS Sata II is going on 5 years now. Now , you said it, a mechanical KB has more points of failure. 104 or more. Concerning the price tags, I guess there is a sweet spot for quality and performance at the lowest price possible.   Like with a graphics card you can get much more value by spending about 130-150 opposed to 75-$125.

In Short, I am going to break this crappy Logitech keyboard in many pieces soon so I hope to have a replacement before that happens.

I guess I could go to a local PC Shop and try out a KB, The only ones locally are a Razor Black Widow Ultimate(159.99) and a CM Quickfire storm(104.99). not cheap.

That's pretty much the price range though. Mechanical key boards aren't cheap. Even entry level ones.

IO did find a deal at staples for a llogitech G710+ Mechanical Keyboard.  I did like the one on display and I could only guess it was using Cherry MX brown since i don't know the specs.  And According to logitech's site that the store sales dude and I looked at, These come in Cherry MX brown or MX blue. They had only brown in store.  I picked one up took it home, for less than i would have paid for the Newegg ones , after S/H. Helps to have some Discounts as well .  This is not the same model. The Browns in store had a tactile feel and require some force , This one now just bottoms out every key. Plus the site is different with no mention of CherryMX.  Plus the size is Non Standard and feels weird. the Macro keys should not be on a KB  of these prices.  Maybe they had an older model on display.  Very Disappointed .  I am sick of looking online for a deal.
